A small cyber security firm that is quick and responsive to every day demands. While many security firms might use symbols of protection from the ancient Greek like Cerberus or Aegis, Calliope uses the name of the Greek goddess who was the chief of all muses who presides over eloquence and epic poetry. This is a security firm that wanted to be viewed as friendlier and eloquent in the code they write. They also wanted to message that they were small and nimble. The logo was also to be simple and convey a similar aesthetic to modern tech companies today.
DESIGN PROCESS
Humming birds videos and photos were studied to better understand how they move and what characteristics about them makes their silhouettes iconic. From there several rough images were drawn and, among those, one image stood out. That image was taken into Adobe Illustrator where it was placed and adjusted using a circular grid system that adheres to the hierarchy of the golden ratio.
